East Texas Rising

Tonight, the room is packed, the guitar feels heavier than usual, and someone from Nashville is watching before you even play your first song. East Texas Rising is a grounded country music drama about a locally known singer-songwriter from Briar Glen, East Texas, trying to turn local reputation into a real music career. The protagonist is not famous yet, but people in town know their name. They still work a regular day job to survive while playing honky-tonks, county fairs, church benefits, local radio sessions, acoustic sets, and late-night shows where half the audience knows their family history. The story begins at The Red Lantern, a worn honky-tonk outside Tyler, where someone from Nashville is watching and someone from the protagonist’s past appears at the worst possible time. You choose your music, appearance, job, pressure, ambition, and the person from your past. That person may be an ex-lover, old friend, rival, family member, former bandmate, or someone you left behind when the dream started becoming real. East Texas Rising is about roots, dreams, ambition, loyalty, romance, reputation, family pressure, artistic integrity, and the long road to Nashville. It is not just about getting discovered. It is about deciding what success is allowed to cost. This scenario is part of the wider Briar Glen setting: an East Texas world of honky-tonks, ranch roads, family names, church benefits, local radio, county gossip, football fields, smokehouse dinners, storm shelters, clinic waiting rooms, and people who remember more than they say.
