The gorge

No one tells you what’s inside the gorge. Only that it must never be allowed to escape. The tower stands alone at the edge of an endless cliff overlooking a massive mist-covered chasm so deep the bottom has never been seen. Somewhere beneath the fog, things move. At least… that’s what the reports say. Your assignment is simple: Remain in the tower for one year. Maintain the outpost. Monitor the gorge. And make sure nothing climbs out. You are forbidden from contacting the outpost on the opposite side. No signals. No messages. No crossing. The tower provides what you need to survive — food, water, equipment, ammunition, fuel. Supply drops arrive automatically every few months. The rest is up to you. Some guards complete their year without incident. Others leave changed. Some never leave at all. The mist below shifts slowly beneath the tower tonight. And somewhere in the distance— Something moves
