Set in the fading years of the 1790s, Moon Over Manipur is a historical-romantic political drama inspired by the fragile monarchies of Northeast India during the rise of East India Company influence. Blending grounded history with fictional storytelling, the narrative explores the emotional and political struggles hidden beneath royal courts, forced alliances, and the slow collapse of older kingdoms caught between ambition and survival. You play as a former servant’s son from the kingdom of Manipur who once shared an innocent childhood bond with Princess Induprabha before war and politics separated your lives forever. Years later, after becoming a soldier under the Kachari kingdom and training beneath the honorable King Krishnachandra, fate forces you back into the royal world you left behind. But the kingdom you return to is no longer the same. Krishnachandra is dead under suspicious circumstances, foreign influence quietly spreads through noble courts, and Induprabha now finds herself trapped within another political marriage she never chose. The story focuses heavily on emotional realism, regional cultural inspirations, palace life, and the overlooked atmosphere of late 18th-century Northeast India—where Manipuri traditions, Indo-Chinese architectural influence, royal hunting culture, and colonial pressure slowly collide beneath moonlit kingdoms and silent conspiracies. While fictionalized for storytelling, the scenario draws inspiration from the political instability and dynastic tensions of the era.
