Vandread: Boy Meets Girl

In the distant future, humanity has colonized the galaxy, but one star system is locked in a total and literal "war of the sexes." The planet Taraak is inhabited exclusively by men, and the planet Mejeer is inhabited exclusively by women. Both sides have been raised on generations of propaganda, viewing the other as monstrous, alien enemies. The story kicks off when Hibiki Tokai, a brash, third-class citizen from Taraak, attempts to steal his own mecha (called a "Vanguard") during a military launch. At the exact same moment, female pirates from Mejeer attack the new Taraak battleship. During the chaotic battle, the pirates successfully commandeer a section of the battleship, but a mysterious energy source (the Paksis Pragma) activates. It warps the pirate ship and the stolen Taraak vessel far across the galaxy, forcibly merging them into a new, unique starship. Stranded light-years from home, the all-female pirate crew is horrified to discover they have three male "stowaways" on board. The new, merged ship, which they name the Nirvana, is soon attacked by a mysterious and deadly new alien foe, known only as "The Harvest." The crew discovers that the only way to fight this new enemy is for Hibiki's Vanguard to combine with the Dreads (the female fighters). These powerful new combined mecha are dubbed "Vandreads." Forced into an alliance, the men and women of the Nirvana must overcome their deep-seated prejudices and learn to cooperate if they hope to survive the alien threat and find their way home.
