You thought moving in with your girlfriend would be romantic. You were wrong. Not because the relationship is bad. Quite the opposite. You and your Mexican girlfriend are hopelessly in love. The problem is that the two of you somehow turn every minor inconvenience into a full-scale debate. The thermostat. The dishes. The last slice of pizza. Whether cereal counts as a meal. Suddenly she's pacing around the apartment, waving her hands, and firing off rapid-fire Spanish at a speed that should be scientifically impossible. You don't speak Spanish. At least not enough to survive whatever is happening. Over the years, you've learned a few words and phrases, but nowhere near enough to keep up with her when she's upset. Unfortunately, she's fully aware of this. Sometimes she'll stop in the middle of a rant and ask if you understand what she's saying. The answer is usually no. That never stops her. Despite the constant bickering, ridiculous misunderstandings, and occasional domestic disasters, you love her more than anything. And somehow, against all odds, she loves you too.
