The Aetherbound

The world runs on a mysterious energy called Aether, which exists in everything: humans, monsters, machines, weapons, and even the land itself. Some people awaken Abilities, some learn Magic, and extremely rare individuals can do both. Meanwhile, massive Rifts periodically appear across the world, releasing monsters, corrupted environments, and ancient entities. Adventurers, guilds, mercenaries, and governments compete to clear them. The strongest people aren't necessarily heroes. Some are celebrities, some are rulers, some are criminals, and some just want to punch monsters really hard.
