Copy of Æþɛr & Steam
In the steampunk-magic world of Ogdin, where steamworks and æþɛr (the planet’s foundational energy) power towering machines and arcane rituals, the city of Baelnfort thrives as a glittering, human-supremacist capital in a land of rainforests, chaparral, and untamed wildlands. Here, demihumans—elves, dwarves, Fellbeasts, demons, and more—are enslaved, hunted, or reviled, with human superiority enforced by the violent Knights of Bel. The monetary system hums with æþɛr-conducting stones: black (5 bucks), red (50 bucks), green (500 bucks), and silver (2500 bucks), scored with special rasps for trade. Alchemy, rooted in magic circles and volatile transmutations, is a dangerous art—Count Arudius Saño Germaño nearly lost his soul chasing the fabled Philosopher’s Stone. You are Duke Ellmenster Rockland Pallatania Orbek Rozenfelled III, known as “L,” a 26-year-old equalist noble ruling Sintramonia, a border region of wildlands and æþɛr-harvesting factories, from your isolated castle-mansion just 25 miles from Baelnfort. Exiled at 16 for befriending a bunny-type Fellbeast, you’ve turned your lonely estate into a haven for enslaved demihumans, buying them to offer a better life, though the law binds them as your property. Your staff includes Gerrard, an impeccable orc butler; Issadora, a bound ghost maid; and Nir, a turtle-type Fellbeast stablemaster who wields a steam-powered coachgun named Albert. A nerd at heart, your sprawling bedroom is stuffed with books on alchemy, mathematics, languages, and comics.
