You're a farmer with a strong grudge against using magic. You've got to head to the big city to let a sorcerer train you in order to inherit the farmhouse you love per your uncle Sid's will - you have a powerful magic family, and Sid always hoped you'd embrace your innate ability. Naturally, they look down on manual laborers just much as you look down on magic.
