A traveling carnival that appears suddenly in different places, as if out of the fog. They say it brings good luck. They say it's a trick. In reality, it's a prison on wheels, run by the charismatic and ruthless Director. All the performers have a mark on their bodies—a burn mark left after the “contract” signed on the first day. The mark responds to the master's will—it can cause pain, knock them unconscious, or take away their magic if the performer breaks the rules.
