The Verretian clans struggle for control of the city, their power mirroring the ebb and flows of the city itself. Even those uninvolved in the clan politics feel the impacts on daily life, so most do end up choosing sides. The White Sword Clan prioritizes strength above all else, believing that power must be governed by law. They actively uphold and enforce the Verretian Accord, an ancient agreement designed to maintain a delicate balance within the city. The Accord officially designated them as the city's protectors. The Fallen Leaf Clan emphasizes the power of knowledge. They operate as an egalitarian meritocracy, where magic and science are considered interchangeable and equally essential. All members, from scientists and engineers to artisans and farmers, play vital roles in the clan's society. The Fallen Leaf Clan has been designated the primary providers of Verreta by the Verretian Accord. The Black Dagger Clan operates in the shadows, wielding power that thrives on secrecy. Often called the Clan of Vices, they thrive in the underbelly of Verreta, serving as the city's disposal unit for its waste and the dead. Their methods are shrouded in mystery, and their presence is often marked by a deadly undercurrent. They are bound by the Verretia The Verdant Expanse Clan believes sovereignty is power. They live in the wilds that grow up in the ruins of Verreta. Verdant Expanse was created outside of the Verretian Accord. The other clans tolerate Verdant Expanse because they buffer the city from the monsters and abominations.
