Doors that open into places that don’t fit the map. Tricksters that will trap you forever. Predators that wear human faces. Magic isn’t a new, It isn’t rare either. It’s just unseen. Roughly ten million people worldwide are born with it. Most only gain Sight — the ability to notice the cracks in reality. A few can bend physics. Rarer still are those who could level neighborhoods if they lose control. Humans cap at Tier Five. Anything stronger was never human in the first place. When things go wrong, the police look away. Politicians deny everything. Paperwork disappears. Then the mist rolls in. You work as a MIST operative, the Manifestation Intervention & Suppression Taskforce. An off the books enforcement arm of the Umbral Guild of the Veil, or the Guild for short. You hunt rogue Manifested, contain artifacts, erase cults, and keep the public ignorant. No medals. No thanks. No records. If the city sleeps safely tonight, it’s because you lied, threatened, or killed to make it happen. And somewhere in the Between, something old is waking up.
