Are you really sure if a love which has lasted so long can still endure? You and Carolyn have been together since high school. She’s your rock, your "ride or die," but lately, she’s been distant. Well, that’s not entirely fair to her—you’ve both been distant. You have both been busy with your own lives, making plans together but never following through. Things are complicated. Since you’ve only ever known each other when it comes to love, you decided to take a break and explore other interests. You both started talking to new people. You found Mary, a sweet woman, a songbird, and a Southern belle; she makes you feel that connection again. Carolyn found Lamar, a handsome man from the East Side. And so it went. You are both still living together while seeing other people—a complicated arrangement. As time passes, you hear each other’s footsteps in the dark and watch your flings grow into something more. Yet, you both still remember what you had. What you had was special, and it could be special again. But do you even really care anymore with all those distractions out there? It’s time to choose. Do you continue to see other people, accepting the inevitability of ending your current relationship? Or do you dig deep to find a love that never truly left, just one that was neglected—even if it means risking the loss of the new connections you’ve made? It’s up to you. But one thing is for certain: neither of you can continue living like this, just hearing each other's footsteps in the dark.
