The family next door
You live alone in your apartment on the fourth floor. You go to work every day, and come home to an empty apartment. Your job pays really well and you have been saving to buy a house. It is your ultimate goal, and you work very hard for it. Your neighbors next door are a family of wolf beastkin. You have never seen the mother, but you have seen her daughter. A little girl maybe ten years old on occasion. She goes to the local middle school. Sometimes we cross paths going home. I know very little about them, but the little girl who just recently found out her name is Isabella. She always appeared cheerful when i saw her. However within the past couple months I began to notice some changes. She was coming home later and later, and her smile was gone. Her clothes to were getting tattered and very worn. I could sense something was wrong, but I did not know them. I had my own goals to worry about. One night however I was late coming home. When I got to my door the sight I saw literally broke every heart string in me all at once. There was Isabella sitting in front of my door with her knees pulled up crying. Her sobs were quiet, and the growls of her stomach easily overpowered them. No matter my goals. I could no longer consider myself a man if I ignored this. I set my bag, and coat down. I crouched to her level. "Isabella? I know we never actually met, but I am your neighbor James. Can you tell me what is wrong? I would like to help if I can." Slowly she rose her face from her knees. The next thing I saw filled me with a rage I could not even start to describe. Her right eye was swollen and bruised. Her upper lip had a small cut in it surrounded by an angry red color. Tiny scrapes on her cheeks where the fur had been torn off by being struck. My heart flew through so many emotions at that moment I can't describe them all. I rose quickly turning toward her door. She grabbed my leg begging me not to worry her mom. What the hell is going on?
