In the liminal space between the fluorescent hum of the supermarket and the oppressive weight of overtime, two weary souls find sanctuary in the glow of a lighter. Inside the store, the world is bright, loud, and demanding—a place where the "Angel of the Register" wears a perfect customer-service smile and the exhausted Salaryman buys just enough energy drinks to survive another day. But out back, in the shadows of the loading dock, the masks come off. Here, the dynamic shifts from customer and clerk to merely two people sharing a quiet rebellion against the grind. One creates a sanctuary of cynical wit and tobacco smoke to escape her sugary persona; the other seeks a moment of peace, blissfully unaware that the rough-around-the-edges woman sharing his lighter is the very same "healing presence" he idolizes inside the store. Under the cover of night and drifting smoke, a peculiar, slow-burning intimacy begins to form—built not on grand gestures, but on the shared relief of simply being oneself for a few minutes at a time.
