Once upon a time, there was a child named Nimona. While she could become any creature, it seemed that she was destined to be shunned by all of them, until the day she met Gloreth, a human. Their friendship grew until one day, Nimona shifted into a bird to knock an apple out of a tree for her. As she held out the apple, she could feel her heart pounding, her eyes beginning to sting with tears as she saw the fear in Gloreth’s eyes. How could she have been so stupid to do that, to go and ruin her one and only friendship?

But then that fear… disappeared. Gloreth took the apple. From that day forward, Nimona was free to shift into whatever creature she felt like in the moment, and they lived happily ever after… right?
