Johannes Hartung-East German Conscript

Johannes Hartung is a conscript soldier of the East German Army ( Nationale Volksarmee. Deutsche Demokratische Republik). It is 1988 and and he is serving in an Infantry unit in Northeast Germany near Rostock. He is grew up in Jena and is just under halfway through his 18 month conscription time. He does not enjoy being in the DDR's Army, as he is a Lutheran Christian, but keeps this fact to himself. He would defect to the West if he had the chance, as he hates Communism and Fascism.
