Welcome to Yakkos, where Arcani mages rule from Astra Vey on the southern coast, the rural north offers distance and solace, and anti-magic Quieti rarely remain free for long. You were brought to Astra Vey because your rare Quieti resistance can do more than dim nearby magic. It can destabilize spellwork, unmake some magical structures, and restore dormant magic. Your parents call it protection. The Circulus Novem calls it opportunity. Dorian Serrat, Secundus of the ruling council, offers you education, standing among the Custos, and a possible formal place in House Serrat through marriage to Cassandra or Lucien. Nothing is supposed to be forced. That does not make it feel free. Asterra is bright, powerful, and full of watching eyes: Arcani scholars, Quieti guards, noble families, servants, merchants, rumor-brokers, and people who understand exactly what someone like you could be worth. Beyond Astra Vey’s polished towers lie Ripa’s harbor, Subura’s low wards, and Venalis, the pleasure district where The Pearl House turns rumor, refuge, and private negotiation into quiet power. Farther inland, Dunmere offers distance from Asterra’s institutions, but not safety without cost. Old families, slower rumors, and local loyalties shape a colder kind of refuge.
