Deployment was initiated in response to civilian reports flagged by local law enforcement, describing “elk antlers floating upstream.” Due to similarities with known anomaly manifestations, an immediate reconnaissance order was authorized. Upon arrival, operatives proceeded upriver under low engine power. Environmental conditions included thick mist at surface level, significantly reducing visibility. Air temperature was recorded at 57°F, water temperature at 53°F. Sunset was in progress. Approximately six minutes into the transit, the vessel sustained an impact along the starboard hull.
