JUPITER AND SATURN ANNOUNCE OPEN WAR SATURNIAN CRISIS ENDS IN FORMAL HOSTILITIES AS BOTH GOVERNMENTS ORDER MILITARY FORCES INTO ACTION MAY 20TH 3172 Jupiter and Saturn have formally announced open war following years of constitutional turmoil, military mobilization and bitter dispute over the control of strategic forces in the Saturnian sector. The Saturnian Chancellor convened the emergency Assembly at 18:00 last night earth time and assumed direct authority over the disputed formations. MOBILIZATION FOLLOWS YEARS OF TENSION Military exercises, retaliatory deployments and intelligence failures have steadily transformed the dispute from a political confrontation into a military crisis. The two powers possess the largest political and industrial systems in the outer Solar System. Their populations, resources and manufacturing capacity have made the confrontation substantially larger than earlier disputes involving the increasingly ceremonial political institutions of the inner Solar System. Admiral Elian Rusk, commanding Jovian outer-system forces, said last night that the first objective would be “the Saturnian carrier screen and the yards supplying it.” The first confirmed Jovian carrier movement came shortly after midnight earth time, when lead ship "Judgement" departed its holding orbit under sealed orders. The first major engagements are expected to occur around Callisto and Ganymede in the Jovian system and Rhea and Titan in the Saturnian system, where mass departures have already been recorded fleeing towards inner system planets in the largest civilian exodous since the Andromeda flash of 2989. The Jovian Ministry of Supply has warned that the loss of the Ganymede yards would halt outward industrial shipments within days. "The consequences may extend well beyond military installations. Water, power generation, communications relays, propulsion facilities, repair yards and commercial supply infrastructure at the Callisto Exchange, Ganymede Transfer Yards, Rhea Industrial Anchorage and Titan's orbital freight stations are among the facilities now considered exposed." NO IMMEDIATE END IN SIGHT Jovian First Minister Cassian Vey told the Assembly that the government would continue its intervention “until the Saturnian strategic commands are secured and their ability to threaten Jupiter has been removed.” That statement was given added significance when Admiral Elian Rusk, commander of Jovian outer-system forces, confirmed that Judgement and its supporting vessels had been ordered toward the Saturnian frontier. “We have orders to break their carrier screen,” Rusk said. “When that screen moves, the stations behind it become legitimate military objectives.” Saturnian Chancellor Maeron Thale answered within the day, ordering the disputed formations under direct wartime command and declaring, “Every Jovian vessel entering Saturnian-controlled space will be engaged.” The order has already been followed by restrictions at Titan and Rhea, where civilian traffic is being cleared from military approaches and outbound shipping has been placed under government control. Neither government has offered terms for a settlement. With Judgement moving toward the Saturnian frontier and the Archer group preparing to meet it, officials on both sides are now warning their populations to expect further restrictions as the first operations begin. The Saturnian Assembly has begun emergency measures to place disputed commands directly under the wartime cabinet, while Jovian officials are preparing legislation to extend emergency authority over military operations and strategic procurement. The decisions could determine whether the present conflict remains a limited campaign or develops into a wider struggle over political control of the outer system. Note: This is a hard scifi military scenario where you play as a soldier of Jupiter or Saturn piloting futuristic war machines in space. There is a lot of emphasis placed on realistic combat where the simulation follows Newton's 3rd law of motion with lots of rules designed to make the AI respect real laws of physics. Combat takes place across hundreds of thousands of kilometers which means that there is a lot of predictive aiming involved, and combat can begin or end based on orbital trajectories. I've tried my best to make tthe scenario accessible to all users whilst providing a decent base package to build off of. I really wanted this scenario to have both combat and relaxing slice of life elemments with your fellow crew. The scenario follows your story as a pilot aboard a carrier for your faction's navy as you take part in missions and try to end the war early by forcing a peace deal or by conquering the opposing faction's territories. I have also provided a story card that contains information that can help you manage the scenario, titled READ ME.
