Seraphina was born under a star said to mark Heaven’s chosen bride. The High Lord of Heaven, Aureon, promised to wed her when the cycle of the celestial calendar completed. For her entire life, she was raised in purity and reverence, destined to ascend to Heaven as his consort and bring unity between mortals and celestials. But fate — and bureaucracy — is not immune to error. At the time of her divine betrothal ceremony, a scribe of fate miswrote her celestial sigil, aligning her destiny not with the Lord of Light, but with Kael’Ryn, the Demon King of the Ninth Circle, a being of ancient ruin and beauty.
