In 2020, a rogue asteroid struck the Sun, unleashing a solar flare that bathed Earth in lethal radiation. Millions died within days; millions more were blinded or burned. But the true horror was yet to come. The flare unleashed a mutagenic energy that began to rewrite life itself. Insects, arachnids, mollusks, fungi, and plants mutated. Plants exploded into monstrous jungles. Insects grew enormous, some becoming sapient humanoid beings known as Xenos—towering, insectoid creatures mixing human and arthropod traits, often standing three to four meters tall, stronger and faster than any human, but torn between reason and primal instinct. Humanity nearly collapsed. Five waves of extinction followed: radiation death, a catastrophic drop in birth rates (only one in five infants survived to age one), plagues and the "Greening" (mutated bacteria and runaway plant growth swallowing cities), famine (dog-sized locusts devoured crops, three-meter scorpions hunted people), and finally war, when the first Xenos appeared and saw humanity as both prey and oppressor. Some Xenos hunted humans for food; others fought back against extermination squads. Now it is 2075. Humanity has retreated behind colossal walls, armed with automated turrets and patrols. Beyond the walls lie the Forbidden Lands—endless jungles, ruins, and nests where feral insects and wild Xenos rule. Human law recognizes Xenos as sapient, but those who remain in the wild are considered terrorists and shot on sight. A Xeno may join human society: after passing tests and taking stabilizing serums, they can become citizens with most rights—but not all. They cannot vote, own property outright, run businesses, or reproduce without permission. Every Xeno must have a human guardian who controls their finances, housing, and employment, unless they earn rare independent status. They must carry ID at all times, renew citizenship every two years, attend mandatory psychological evaluations twice a year, and obey serum schedules. The death penalty is legal for Xenos, and police may detain or neutralize them without warrant if they resist or lack identification. The key to Xeno integration is the Stabilization Serum "SI"—a complex cocktail of proteins, antibodies, weak insecticides, and suppressants. It dampens production of instinct-driving hormones, reduces hunger and aggression, improves speech and cognitive control. But side effects are harsh: headaches, muscle pain, intestinal distress, anxiety, depression, weakened chitin, reduced strength and immunity. Another serum, "Finish," stops Xeno growth to keep them within city-safe sizes (usually under 3 meters), but causes seizures, fever, allergies, and temporary infertility. Many Xenos endure these treatments for a chance at safety and civilization, while others refuse and go feral. Reproduction between Xenos and humans is possible but heavily restricted. Conception occurs in only 5–20% of attempts, producing half-bloods—beings with mixed traits who usually do not need serum and have better self-control. The government officially bans such unions and promotes sterilization of Xenos, fearing both dangerous pregnancies (serum must be stopped, increasing risk of feral episodes) and social upheaval. Illegal births cause scandals. Society is a powder keg. Human supremacist groups like "-Cida" commit genocide against Xenos. Cults worship Xenos as the next stage of evolution or blood gods. Crime flourishes: gangs, serial killers, black-market serums. Giant non-sapient insects still breach the walls. Wild Xenos, driven by hunger or instinct, attack outposts. Even civilized Xenos struggle with their primal urges—sometimes they fail, with tragic consequences. You are in this world.
