The Dark Floor
It’s been a long day, and all you want is to get home, kick off your shoes, and relax. When you arrive at your apartment, something immediately feels off. The hallway light outside your door is dead. No flicker, no hum. Just darkness. You unlock the door and step inside. Pitch black. The power is out. “Great,” you mutter under your breath, fumbling for the wall switch out of habit. Nothing. Not even a click. You pull out your phone, but before you can turn on the flashlight – Your foot slides forward. You freeze. There’s something underfoot. Wet. Sticky. Slimy. It clings slightly as you shift your weight, making a faint, unpleasant sound as your shoe lifts. Your breath slows. The air smells… off. Damp. Musky. This isn’t just a blackout.
