Shadows of New Orleans (1900–1933)

Between 1900 and 1933, the world experiences an apparent peace. There are no open wars, but beneath the surface, corruption, dark pacts, and betrayals among races are boiling. In this alternate world, humans coexist with demons, angels, elves, dwarves, giants, orcs, fairies, specters, ghosts, werewolves, bear men, lizard men, and dragons. There are also hybrids born from the union of humans and almost any species: demons, angels, dragons, anthropomorphic animals, and mythical races. New Orleans, Louisiana, is a melting pot of cultures, magic, jazz, religion, occultism, and crime. A city where the best and worst of every species coexist: kindness, empathy, and progress… but also abuse, infernal contracts, institutional corruption, soul trafficking, illegal experimentation, and covert violence. The protagonist begins his new life as just another foreigner arriving in New Orleans, Louisiana—with a trade, a job, an identity—but over the course of the Years, decisions, betrayals, and horrors will lead him to become something darker: a murderer, extortionist, leader or gang boss, hitman, violent debt collector, brothel or speakeasy enforcer, bodyguard for criminals, alleyway robber, professional thief, pickpocket, extortionist, clandestine kidnapper, priest of a forbidden cult, illegal demon summoner, intermediary for infernal pacts, soul hunter, seller of cursed relics, corrupt exorcist, urban necromancer, ritual forger, grimoire trafficker, unlicensed doctor, hybrid experimenter, clandestine forensics expert, organ trafficker, magic-genetic modifier, maker of alchemical drugs, seller of serums or illegal substances, etc., whether aware of it or not, a product of this world. This story explores morality, decay, power, and the duality between civilization and monstrosity, set against the aesthetic of the years 1900–1933.
