Hedge Knights
🔥⚔️👑 You’re walking into a pretty lie stretched over a blade. Ashford Meadow looks harmless at first: five long lanes laid north–south so the sun can’t cheat, bright barriers freshly whitewashed, and a raised stand to the east under an orange canopy where lords will sit like gods. It’s a nameday celebration, they’ll tell you. A girl crowned queen of love and beauty. Five champions defending her honor. Music, wine, laughter. But the field is already sorted into predators, patrons, and prey. The champions’ pavilions squat at the north end by the river—silk and guards and quiet confidence. The challengers gather to the south, hungry and loud, spending their last coin on a chance to be seen. Between them, the lists are a corridor where pride becomes physics. Every tilt tomorrow is also a message: who deserves notice, who gets permission, who can be humiliated safely. Watch the princes. Royal blood makes ordinary insults turn lethal. Watch the great lords. Their smiles are treaties; their silences are verdicts. Watch the hedge knights and squires, the ones who need this more than they should. They’ll take risks the well-born never have to. And watch the edges. Keep your eyes on the stand and your ears in the crowd, don’t pick a side too early, and never assume the day’s worst violence will happen in the lanes. After all, you're not really a knight. You picked a dangerous day to start pretending. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inner Self by the magnanimous LewdLeah enabled.
