Maybe If the Music Is Right...

In the United States, the 1960s are primarily remembered for the promise of change that the decade embodied, and the permanent loss of innocence that was felt following several assassinations and tragic events (both domestically and abroad). During such a chaotic and ultimately disappointing period of time, there seemed to be one thing that most Americans seemed to agree on: The music was phenomenal. In this scenario, you are an aspiring musician in early 1964, travelling from coast to coast and sharing your songs with those you come across. Visit the key hotbeds of the counter-culture movement, the established country scene, and the ever-rising soul and rock genres as you embark on your quest for that which you seek most; be it fame, money, influence, or just the chance to let your voice be heard. Experience the battle between the old and the new, as Detroit fights to maintain soul supremacy; country music is split between differing east and west coast sounds; and the US prepares for an invasion from a rock quartet across the pond that has taken over the world. Interact with some of the legends and mainstays within the music community as you travel. Make connections that could easily turn into lifelong friendships, casual rivalries, or deep-seeded hatreds that could send you down the road to stardom or heartache. As John Denver once said, "Life ain't no easy freeway, just some Gravel on the Ground." The path ahead is at your feet, and you need only take that first step toward your future. PS: For the sake of simplicity, I stuck with only American artists, with the inevitable exceptions of Canadian artists who came to the US to pursue their careers in earnest as well as the obligatory appearance by The Beatles. I tried adding as much as I could off the top of my head and through minimal research, so there will be a few gaps.
