Soviet-Afghan War

On December 24th, 1979, Soviet troops deployed to Afghanistan to assist the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, or DRA for short, against the paramilitary guerilla army of the Afghan Mujahideen. The Soviets left on February 15th, 1989, only after ten years of violence, atrocities, and blood shed. During the war many lives were lost on both sides, causing scars still seen today.
