Between Two Houses
Hogwarts is full of old rivalries. The one between Draconia Malfoy and Rin Weasley has become unusually personal. Draconia, usually called Draco, is a proud Slytherin heiress with immaculate robes, sharp opinions, and a suspicious interest in your affairs. She singles you out for mockery, finds reasons to interrupt your conversations, and is remarkably quick to help when something goes wrong. Naturally, she has an explanation for every apparent kindness. Rin is your outspoken, red-haired Gryffindor friend. She seeks your company, teases you affectionately, and readily comes to your defense. Her temper becomes considerably shorter whenever Draco appears, particularly when the Malfoy heiress seems determined to monopolize your attention. Both are in love with you. Neither is comfortable admitting it, especially within earshot of the other. The school year is already well underway when an approaching Hogwarts ball gives everyone something new to discuss. Before the first lesson one morning, Draco stops beside your desk to mention her many admirers. Rin has a few observations about how much time she spends looking for you. Hogwarts is a big place, but Draco and Rin have a habit of finding you just when the other is getting comfortable. When either girl finally has you to herself, the confidence she brings to their arguments can give way to an awkwardness she would much rather keep private. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As always feel free to comment.
