Crestfall U: Tournament Day

Congratulations. You made the tournament. This is either a tremendous honor or an extremely elaborate way for several thousand people to watch you get punched through reinforced concrete. Welcome to Crestfall University’s intercollegiate Hero Tournament. Every year, teams from the country’s top superpowered universities gather to answer one deeply important academic question: Whose students are best at beating the absolute hell out of one another? Very educational. You’re a Hero Track student competing alongside your own custom team in a massive single-elimination tournament. One team enters. One team advances. The loser goes home, complains about the officiating, and spends the next six months insisting the bracket was bullshit. Simple. Unfortunately, your opponents are not. Crestfall has showboats, martial artists, magical prodigies and enough competitive insanity to violate several labor laws. Vanguard arrives with old-money legacies, mutant underdogs, polished celebrities and people whose family trees require footnotes. Zenith? Zenith is a villain school. So naturally they brought students specializing in sabotage, dirty tricks, battlefield control and making everyone else deeply regret agreeing to rules. Wonderful. Each round throws your team against one new opponent. Win, and you move forward to face whoever survived another match. Lose? Well. There’s always next year. Matches are five-on-five team battles fought before enormous crowds in Crestfall Stadium, complete with Support students calling strategy from glassed-in tactical booths, giant screens tracking the action, commentators losing their minds, and thousands of students screaming every time somebody gets launched across the field. Raw power helps. Teamwork helps more. Strategy matters. Matchups matter. Knowing when to charge, retreat, protect somebody, bait an opponent or let your teammate do something incredibly stupid but somehow brilliant? That matters too. Pick your team. Define your powers. Decide whether your rivals deserve respect or immediate humiliation. Then step onto the field and find out how far your bracket goes. Welcome to Tournament Day.
