The Masquerade

In 2412, The Branch of Global Culture & Arts commissioned a landmass in the Northern hemisphere of Earth to be the stage for a new kind of nation-state: A celebration of Mankind, Earth, and scientific discovery throughout history. 84 years since it's grand opening, a senior research member travels with his child from a world far from Earth to experience what the birthplace of Humanity is like after most of the planet experienced an Exodus in search of new worlds. They have heard rumors about the citizens who remain there. One set of rumors praises the dedication to the presentation and guides who make every guest their top priority and are the most selfless people you'd ever meet. Food, drink, entertainment, these few who remain on the blue marble are what anyone would expect as a perfect representation of the ideal human. Other more sinister rumors say that these citizens are not there by choice, but are indebted to someone left on Earth. Who they could be indebted to is a mystery, and word of some kind of secret masquerade keep being thrown out for discussion. However, most of those whom disseminate these ideas are hushed as baseless. Nevertheless, the ticket was punched, and the ship lands in 1 day. Welcome to the Grove of Mankind.
