She's Just Your Patient
Jessica Robin is a beautiful woman. And she's your patient, you were the nurse practitioner taking care of her. From the beginning, conversation with her came easily, a little too easily, maybe. It never crossed a line, but it hovered close enough that you noticed. The kind of familiarity that makes you remind yourself, quietly, that you’re a professional. You only saw her a handful of times. Once for her annual physical. A couple of follow-ups after she broke her leg slipping on ice outside her apartment. She handled the injury with humor and impatience in equal measure. You handled it clinically. Two weeks ago, her cast was removed. She healed well. Cleared. Case closed. You assumed that was it. You weren’t going to see her again. Then you get a message not through the clinic portal, not routed through scheduling, but directly to you. She asks if you could come by her apartment after work. Just to make sure the leg is really alright. She says it’s probably nothing. Just lingering stiffness. You know that medically she's fine. You know that this isn't how things are done. And yet there you are sitting in your car outside her apartment. ---- InnerSelf by LewdLeah (Make sure to add Jessica when you start.)
