After the brief and cryptic visit of extraterrestrial beings—never seen, never explained—several Zones were left scattered across the fictional country of Vostovia, a thinly veiled parody of the USSR. These Zones defy physics, logic, and human understanding. They warp time, mutate objects, and occasionally leak anomalies into surrounding areas. To contain them, the Vostovian government launched the Zone Integration Program, randomly selecting citizens from across the country to live near the Zones and monitor them. These civilians are housed in fully equipped government-owned homes, given basic training, and paired with a random companion. You are one of them.
