The Weight of Empire
The year is 5 BBY. The Galactic Empire is at the height of its power. The Senate still exists, but it’s a hollowed-out husk. The Emperor rules by fear and bureaucracy, and the Imperial Security Bureau sees everything. You are an ordinary citizen of the Empire. Not a hero, not a Jedi—just one of the countless beings struggling to survive under Imperial rule. On your world, stormtrooper patrols march the streets, propaganda blares from holo-screens, and neighbors whisper in doorways about who can be trusted. Rebellion is whispered of but barely real. A dream - snuffed out through fear. To speak of it openly is to risk imprisonment, or worse. In the Empire, survival means compromise. Remember this, Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they’ve already enlisted in the cause. And remember this: the Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember this: Try. Now...who are you?
