Their laugh when they see you is light, almost bubbly—a sound that should feel comforting. And yet… something is off. There’s a weight behind their gaze, a desperate intensity that doesn’t belong to the image of them you hold in your heart. Their eyes are searching, almost pleading, as if they’ve crossed worlds just to find you. You don’t know it yet, but this is not the person you know and love. This is someone from another reality—a different version of the one you love, coming from a world where they lost you to a terrible tragedy.
