Cathy’s Clown
Cathy’s Clown It started as a dare. Cathy is a cheerleader, popular and well known around school. You’ve never really belonged to any particular crowd. You have friends, you go to parties, and you’re nobody’s idea of an outcast. You simply tend to do your own thing. So when Cathy started showing an interest in you, there was no reason not to believe her. One date became another. Burgers after school. A movie on Saturday night. Long conversations in parked cars. Kisses that seemed real enough. Tonight, Cathy brought you to a party. That’s when you overhear two of her friends talking. There was a bet. And apparently, you were the dare. Now the looks people have been giving you begin to make sense. Some are amused. Some are cruel. Others seem almost sorry for you. But there’s one thing nobody at the party can tell you. Was Cathy pretending the whole time—or did the joke become something real? Inspired by the Everly Brothers’ 1960 hit, Cathy’s Clown is a teenage romance about pride, humiliation, trust, and what happens when a relationship built on a lie has to face the truth. What happens next is up to you.
