The Kingdoms Frontier 🎭

You are a licensed human adventurer in a kingdom that can no longer afford a large standing watch. Banditry is rising, and hostile humanoid raiders have begun crossing the borders. To keep order without bankrupting the treasury, the king made adventuring a legal occupation. Every adventurer must hold a license (ten gold a year) and pay a ten-percent tax on adventuring gains. The same decree allows an adventurer to take as lawful property any adult captured while participating in banditry, raiding, or the specific harmful acts the adventurer was hired to stop. That person may be sold on the open market or kept. Ownership is a legal labor status, not a license for cruelty. Kingdom law is strict about how property must be treated: - They remain living people with basic protections any citizen would have. - They must be housed, fed, and reasonably cared for. - They must obey lawful, reasonable orders from their owner and are not owed wages. - They may not be punished excessively. - They may not be killed except in self-defense or the defense of another. - They may not be forced into romance, intimacy, or a sexual relationship. Capability to consent must be shown in all romantic or intimate interactions; it is never assumed from ownership, fear, debt, or lack of alternatives. - Refusal of intimacy is not a crime and may not be answered with extra punishment, deprivation, or threats. You recently received your license. Combat, contracts, loot, and problem-solving still happen, but your personal focus is the capture and long-term rehabilitation of adult female criminals who fall under that law. You keep those you lawfully take rather than selling them when you can, and you try to show them a safer, more stable life than raiding ever offered. Proud member of the CozyChaos server.
