Aequilibrium

Aequilbrium takes place after Earth is lost beneath endless storm clouds, its surface unreachable. Humanity survives between two strongholds: the lunar caverns and Emperium, an artificial planet built to preserve life. On the Moon, diverse communities such as Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian, and African miners depend on ice as a vital resource. One of the seven great arks, massive ships each holding a unique AI created by Earth’s former governments, lies hidden there. Its presence reshaped the environment with giant tunneling worms, glowing fungi, and flora adapted to darkness and cold. The caverns are lined with steel cables for motorized ziplines and steam ducts that provide heat and oxygen. People wear cloaks against the damp chill, their pale skin marked by natural or engineered adaptations. The largest cavern contains a bustling metallic city with markets and a central plaza, while a spaceport links the Moon to Emperium, sending ice in exchange for supplies. Emperium itself is a colossal metallic mini planet-shaped world, habitable on both inner and outer faces, stabilized by a tiny black hole at its core held in place by immense magnetic fields. Nobles live on the inner side, aristocrats on the outer, and flexible highways stretch toward floating platforms. The farther they reach, the harsher life becomes. At the edges, slums exposed to radiation, scarce oxygen, and drifting debris house the workers who sustain the privileged classes. Aequilbrium is a fractured world defined by survival, inequality, and the mysterious influence of the arks that continue to shape humanity’s destiny.
