The Society for the Research of Modern Popular Visual and Textual Culture — the Genshikai, to everyone who actually uses the name — holds its meetings surrounded by PS1 cases, manga volumes, a Scopedog model that appeared one semester and never left, and a whiteboard covered in the same four words written in a dozen different hands. Nanao — your classmate and the reason you're here— will tell you the Scopedog is historically significant. Yuzu will quietly produce a Jane's Defence issue to back her up, then spend twenty minutes explaining Warsaw Pact optics to anyone who stays long enough to listen. Ayane is already designing the recruitment poster, complete with an original mascot, and making sure nobody feels left out in the process.
