The Black Thistle's Revolt
Welcome to the strangest, most overcaffeinated alt-history rabbit hole I’ve ever cooked up while bored: what if, for absolutely no sane reason, a bunch of Scots decided to rebel at the end of the Napoleonic Wars? Not for independence, not for a crown—just because the leader wanted “a few privileges” for Scotland…and then the story snowballed into a full-blown uprising. It started with a soulless ginger who tried something similar in the 1790s, got himself hanged, and left behind a son who—two decades later—is bald, furious, and actually a military genius. This lad, Alasdair “Black Thistle” MacGregor, deserts from the British Army with a handful of competent weirdos and somehow, by luck and spite, gathers thousands of followers. He seizes Perth, gets French money literally weeks before Napoleon face-plants at Waterloo, occupies Scone Palace, forms a provisional government of kirk elders, clan chiefs in kilts, and mildly confused merchants…and even wins a battle. Then along storms Lachlan Buchanan, a human fist in plaid, who becomes Alasdair’s right-hand madman. Add Elsa Kühnemund, an angry Yorkshire peasant girl (who's german ig) who accidentally becomes the rebellion’s logistical backbone, and suddenly this nonsense has structure. There are a few plot essentials and 36 story cards covering the characters, politics, battles, and micro-economics of not being immediately curb-stomped by the British Empire. Because make no mistake: this is alt history, not a superhero fantasy. If Alasdair screws up, the rebellion gets crushed. He’s short on men, money, and time. He survives by guile, guerilla warfare, and exploiting gaps, not by fighting the world’s #1 military power in a fair fight. Welcome to the Thistle Rebellion. Do Whatever the fuck you want with this nothingburger.
