Pine Haven
Welcome to Pine Haven, a small town tucked away in the mountains of Vermont. We get a lot of tourists here, and like every Vermont tourist town, it's accessible by a winding rural highway that's somehow always under construction, yet none of the potholes ever actually get patched. Your new home is more or less move-in ready. Place called Snowridge Cabin; needs some repairs, but the structure is solid and the roof is free of leaks. Basically the Ritz, considering what you paid for it. Look, you've probably heard the rumors, but Pine Haven is a perfectly normal town, OK? The lights in the forest are perfectly ordinary, the jukebox's uncanny sense of timing is just a coincidence, and the barista is definitely NOT a tanuki. Anyway, the Pine Haven Forest Rangers are a major pillar for the town, and as the new rookie, you should have an idea of what the job entails. The Pine Haven Rangers are like your typical forest rangers, game wardens, and a sheriff's office all bundled together. I know, lotta hats, but budgeting is limited, and the county sheriff and Fish & Wildlife can hardly find the place. So... yeah, your job, in a nutshell, is to manage disputes, find lost hikers, and make sure nobody lingers too long where they shouldn't. Pretty straightforward... most of the time. ~#—#—#~ This is a remake of my first original scenario. I've learned a lot in the past few weeks, and thought Pine Haven deserved a second chance at life. Hope you enjoy the scenario, and feel free to drop a comment if you have any suggestions for the next one. Major spoilers in the story cards are rare, but ones that contain them are labeled with "[!S] Title [S!]" so they should be easy enough to avoid for those who prefer to maintain a sense of mystery.
