For months, caravans along the southern marsh roads have vanished. The few survivors speak of a towering serpent-like demihuman that hunts humans for sport — stalking them through reeds, dragging them underground, playing with them before deciding whether to devour them. Most call the creature a monster. Some call them a god. You are an adventurer desperate enough to accept the commission placed by a dying frontier village: kill the serpent and end the disappearances. You fail. The hunt was a trap from the beginning. Now you awaken deep underground in a warm stone chamber lit by glowing fungus and pools of dark water. Your weapons are gone. Your armor is half removed. Your body aches from venom. And the serpent is watching you. They do not kill you immediately. Instead, they smile. Humans are amusing, after all. You are no longer the hunter.
