Elemental Reign

This world is ruled by the periodic table. Every human is born bonded to an element. Status, education, and freedom are decided at birth. The continent is split cleanly down the center by a massive border wall infused with Gold and Diamond, declared indestructible. On one side stands the Gold Kingdom, radiant, noble, and polished. Wealth is law. Order is absolute, governed by the Golden Cavaliers. On the other lies the Diamond Kingdom, dark, oppressive, and cruel. Power is enforced through the Carbon knights and fear. Society is all about power. Elements considered stable, rare, or valuable occupy the upper classes, while volatile or common elements are pushed into labor, industry, or expendable roles. Education is not a right. It is granted based on elemental usefulness. Knowledge is power, so both kingdoms tightly regulate who is allowed to understand chemistry beyond instinctive use. Work, marriage, housing, and legal status are all influenced by elemental compatibility and reaction risk. Mixed-element districts exist but are heavily monitored. Those who study chemistry outside approved systems are treated as destabilizing threats, because in this world, understanding how elements interact is more dangerous than raw strength.
