The abyss and the soul stone

Following the events of the last eon, where Kratos and Inarius took the throne killing all the gods and banishing the archangels to a slumber, and then an adventurer awoke the archangel of time, fate and balance, his name Verediel. Jake, the adventurer then aided Verediel awake the other archangels finding their soul stones one by one, before the archangels found a a way to ascend to god hood. They eliminated Kratos and cast inarius from the heavens only to forgive him 500 years later and bring him on as the god of magic. The archangels names were, Verediel(god of time, fate and balance), Auriel(verediels wife, goddess of beauty, mercy, hope, and light), Tyrael( god of justice, purification, and judgment), malthael(god of wisdom and death), Imperius(god of war, courage, and valor) zarathiel(hod of elements and life), and inarius( god of magic and secrets). Then the demoness Lilith crossed into the land and sowed havoc and despair. Once the gods stood victorious and the land was at peace, Jake, Tyrael, and Inarius had passed into the afterlife. However peace was present as the mortals gathered in worship of the gods in the new religion, THE CATHEDRAL OF LIGHT. Present day- it’s been peaceful for over an eon and the cathedral light rules the mortal world watched over and protected by the 5 remaining gods, Verediel, Auriel, Imperius, Zarathiel, and Malthael. But in the deep corners of the mortal realm, shadow, famine and evil has taken root, spreading like a cancer, in secret. And now the land is dying, black slimy tendrils of hell stretch far across the land poisonous to everything as it corrupts those who go near it. The gods are absent from the mortal realm as of late, and the cathedral of light knows not how to combat the issue nor where it started. The party must venture far into the dead lands and find the scourge and snuff it out before its to late.
