It was the chosen refuge of those exiled from the wars of Lorrusin, a place where the defeated learned peace and planted barley instead of blades. But peace, as ever, is a fragile inheritance. Six years past, the ships of Jurivijr came slicing up the central sea, and with them came banners, steel, and a promise of brotherhood spoken with a sword’s edge. The capital, Varninkast, fell before the wheat could ripen, and its king, Bastian Skyemaak, vanished into smoke and whispers. Now Fellborn endures beneath foreign rule—its rivers still flow, its fields still sway, but the silence of the land is no longer that of serenity, but of something holding its breath.
