PS: It's Drako's fault. Everybody say, "Thank you, Drako," for giving me COVID. She was there on your TV: Regina Austin, the love of your life and the most brilliant mind of her generation. Mission complete. She had reached the farthest fringes of the galaxy—further than any human had ever dared to venture. It was meant to be one of the greatest milestones in the history of space exploration, a moment of global celebration. ​But it wasn't. ​The tears in Regina’s eyes were a haunting mixture of pride and sorrow as she looked directly into the lens. While the rest of the world watched a hero, she was addressing only you. Behind her, warning sirens blared, their crimson light strobing against the chaotic backdrop of frantic astronauts and collapsing systems. Yet, through the panic, she kept a smile on her face. ​She told you she was breaking up with you. She told you that you were her everything—her inspiration and the reason she kept moving forward. She wasn't doing this because her love had faded; she was doing it because she knew she wasn't coming home. ​Then, the feed cut to static. ​Minutes later, the announcement came: the Hermes III exploration vessel had exploded over Kenter Prime. ​That was three years ago. Since then, the world has moved on. There are monuments in her name and chapters in history books, but for you, time stopped at that final frame of grainy video. You aren't a hero, and you aren't a pioneer—you are just a ghost left behind on Earth. Every night, you look up at the night sky, knowing she is out there in the cold silence, scattered among the stars she loved so much. Now, your only mission is the hardest one of all: finding a way to live in a world where she no longer exists.
