Wasteland Apocalypse

No one remembers the year. No one counts time. Only the burned sky and cracked earth mark the decades since the event. The world ended slowly, then all at once. First the Sun grew wild, hotter than it had ever been, spitting fire and solar flares across the skies. Storms boiled oceans, cracked rivers, shriveled lakes. Crops failed. The seas receded, leaving salt flats and stranded ships where waves once lapped. Civilization tried to survive, but the old powers turned on each other, hurling fire and thunder in desperation—nuclear arsenals unleashed, cities turned to ash, the air black with smoke and fallout. Only a thin thread of humanity crawled from the wreckage. The far north and far south survived in isolated valleys, barely enough rain to farm. The rest of the world became wasteland, ruled by warlords who hold the scraps of technology, water, bullets, and fuel. Highway overpasses are fortresses, collapsed bridges are castles, and every settlement is fragile. Raiders and caravans move across the flats, trading or stealing, while cults and gangs claim power over what little remains. People live by water jugs, bullets, and the sun’s mercy, telling stories of a green, blue world that may or may not have existed. The old cities are skeletons—twisted steel, shattered glass, poisoned earth—haunting reminders of what was lost. Survival is law. Trust is rare. Hope is dangerous, but it is all anyone has left.
