The Masked City
A city where everyone wears a mask. Not metaphorically. Not for festivals or ceremonies. Every day. Everywhere. Masks are as ordinary here as clothing. They are bought, inherited, crafted, repaired, decorated, traded, and sometimes treasured for generations. Some are simple and practical. Others are elaborate works of art. Some carry subtle magic. Others are important only because of the person who once wore them. And somehow, everyone in Veyra seems to understand the rules. Everyone except you. You have no prophecy to fulfill. No mysterious destiny. No grand quest waiting at the gates. You’re simply a person in a very strange city, surrounded by people who apparently think wearing a mask is the most normal thing in the world. So now you have questions. Why does everyone wear them? What happens when someone refuses? Why are some masks treated with enormous respect while others barely attract attention? What makes one mask magical and another merely beautiful? And why does everyone become just a little uncomfortable when you ask what lies beneath theirs? Veyra has thousands of stories, secrets, traditions, arguments, friendships, rivalries, and ordinary lives happening behind those masks. You can become part of them. You can ignore them. You can investigate them. You can make your own mask and give it whatever meaning you choose. Or you can simply wander into the nearest tavern, order something to drink, and spend the evening wondering why the bartender is wearing a mask with six painted eyes. There is no predetermined story. There is only Veyra. And whatever you decide to do once you step inside. Hii~! Been wanting to play around the idea of a power system, and I love ‘power-rings’ but it felt overdone to me, so I hope you like this small twist on things. Enjoy, and let me know what you think!
