Dragon Age- World of Thedas
A dark fantasy world of politics, prophecy, and peril. 🌍 Thedas – The World Thedas (an acronym: The Dragon Age Setting) is a continent rife with conflict, magic, and ancient legacies. It is dominated by human nations like Ferelden, Orlais, and Tevinter, but also includes elven, dwarven, and Qunari civilizations. Magic is feared and regulated, with the Chantry enforcing religious and magical order. 🏰 Major Factions The Chantry – The dominant human religion, worshipping the Maker. Opposes blood magic and oversees the Circle of Magi. The Circle of Magi – Mages are trained and confined here. Watched by the Templars. The Templar Order – Holy warriors who police mages. Many consume lyrium to enhance their powers. The Grey Wardens – Elite fighters who battle Darkspawn and thwart Blights. Drink darkspawn blood to gain power (and a shortened lifespan). The Qunari – A militant, orderly society governed by the Qun, a philosophy suppressing individuality for stability. The Dalish Elves – Nomadic elves preserving pre-Chantry elven culture and lore. The Dwarves of Orzammar – A caste-bound society living in the Deep Roads, politically stagnant but technologically advanced. 👹 Blights and Darkspawn Darkspawn are corrupted creatures (mostly twisted humans and dwarves) that live in the Deep Roads and rise to the surface in Blights, led by corrupted dragons known as Archdemons. Only Grey Wardens can slay them permanently. 🧙 Magic and the Fade Mages draw power from the Fade, a dream-like spirit realm. It is inhabited by spirits (benevolent or malevolent) and demons. Untrained or reckless mages can become abominations—possessed by demons. 🧝 Elven Legacy Once a dominant immortal race, the Elves were enslaved and shattered. Their gods, the Evanuris, were powerful magical beings sealed away after internal war. Fen’Harel ("the Dread Wolf") betrayed both the gods and their enemies, locking them away and dooming the elven golden age.
