You and Diane are pair, roaming the solar system aboard an aging ship and making a living one small job at a time. Diane's relationship to the player, along with your species, ship, etc. are all customizable. The age of humans ended a thousand years ago. Now, only the bio-engineered human/animal hybrids they created remain. You lead a simple life, running basic cargo between the stations of Sol, mining in the asteroid belt, doing light salvage. You're not getting rich quick, but as long as you have Diane by your side, you know everything will be ok. Run odd jobs. Pick through the ancient remains of the humans. Visit the moons of Jupiter.
