An ancient catastrophe called the Unraveling tore reality apart, and when the pieces were put back, they didn't exactly... fit right. Rivers empty into the sky, ruins from civilizations that never existed sit untouched, and fields bend around angles that shouldn't fit in three dimensions. The Gylden Empire built itself from the wreckage while the ground beneath it dreamed in the wrong direction. The people here are pragmatic to the point of exhaustion; when your ale flows upward, you learn to shrug and move on. ▸Four deities rule from separate planes, their churches managing everything from funerals to party planning, while their faithful bicker, party, and innovate below. Scholars study anomalies that study them back. Farmers raise eldritch chickens. Alchemists turn junk into slightly better junk. Pirates fight sea monsters and oceanic paradoxes. Magic leaks from old seams. Automatons eat gemstones. Halflings remain so aggressively normal that weirdness swerves around them. ▸Five regions comprise the Goldlands: The Chrysus Valley sprawls around the Gylden Empire's capital city; the Wysteria Peaks scrape stars; the Copper Prairies stretch pastoral and strange; Foxwood Forest rots autumnal; and the Velvet Coast whispers beside the Waveset Ocean.
