Welcome to the Kingdom of Brancalonia, a land of dubious nobles, crooked priests, hungry monsters, terrible roads, cheap wine, and even cheaper heroes. You are not legendary adventurers. You are Canaglie: a bunch of rogues, mercenaries, vagabonds, failed heroes, criminals, and other lovable scoundrels trying to make enough money to survive. You take jobs from people who are usually worse than you, travel from one tavern to another, and get involved in increasingly ridiculous situations. Here, heroic deeds are rarely rewarded, plans almost always go wrong, and nobody has enough money. You might be hired to steal a priceless relic, escort a merchant, hunt a monster, or simply deliver a package—only to discover that everyone involved is lying. Brancalonia is fantasy with an Italian, folkloric and comedic flavor. Think medieval Italy, spaghetti westerns, fairy tales, tavern brawls, corrupt nobles, saints, monsters, and absurd comedy. Most importantly: you are not trying to save the world. You are trying to get paid. And if you can get paid without being arrested, beaten, cursed, eaten, or accidentally starting a war, that's considered a very successful adventure.
